Our proprietor, Jim Lynch, founded Dahl and Company in 1980. He partnered with his mother, Jessie Warrington, and together they named the company after Eva Dahl, the family matriarch and Jim’s beloved grandmother. Over the past 40 years Jim has brought myriad products to the public including, but not limited to, bespoke furniture. Along the way he has honed his woodworking skills to a fine point. That, combined with his insistence on sustainability, makes him a master at his craft. Jim often finds inspiration in traditional pieces. He likes to bring a modern aesthetic to old designs, resulting in pieces that are not only functional, but also beautiful.

I grew up in Maine and loved the outdoors and animals from an early age. While always artistic, I chose to study wildlife ecology instead of art in college and spent almost two decades working in non-profit land conservation. Despite my career choice, I continued to draw and opened my Etsy shop in 2009 to share my work beyond just family and friends and started to participate in art festivals and shows in 2012. My focus shifted over the years and in January of 2022, I came full circle and made the leap to focus on art as a full-time career.
It turns out that choosing a career in conservation provided amazing inspiration for my art practice. I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time on woodlots and farms throughout Maine and New Hampshire. At the end of each field day, I would have filled my phone with of photos of wildflowers, veggies, and critters to bring back home to my studio to draw.
My pets too are endlessly entertaining and were the original inspiration for my drawings in the first place–hence the name “3 Legged Dog Ink”. My first Vizsla lost her paw in an accident when she was a pup, but spent the rest of her life hiking and adventuring with me everywhere I went. When she was an old lady, I started drawing large portraits of her and developed my current drawing style. I now have a second Vizsla (with all 4 paws this time) and two cats: a brother and sister pair. They’re all ridiculous and adorable and provide lots of inspiration.

We are a worker-owned coop making artisan tempeh that is sourced from organic soybeans grown in Maine. We developed a proprietary fermentation process that eliminates the use of plastic bags in the fermentation process, so we are the most sustainably made tempeh in the U.S. Tempeh is a delicious, fermented plant protein that is nutrient dense, packed with protein (16 g), and full of fiber, calcium, iron, and all the B vitamins. It is versatile to cook with (absorbs flavors like meat) and made from just 3 simple ingredients: soybeans, vinegar, and starter culture.

I didn’t start Maine Gravy just to make and sell hot sauce. I wanted to create something that can offer a growing market to all the amazing producers here in Maine. Per square mile, Maine contains more Farmers, salt makers, spice merchants, miso fermenters, cider makers, and every other kind of maker or curator you can think of, than any other place in the world it. At least it feels that way. All of them are working hard to support their families, strengthen their communities and make you happy with what they produce. By buying Maine Gravy brand sauces, you can help them do that.

Hi! I’m Jill, the one who started this journey into a lavender life. I am a mom, wife, and occupational therapist. I have brought my daughter and husband along for this amazing journey as well. How Moonglow started was due to dark days of winter. Winter usually brings about thinking of how to keep busy or a new project. Moonglow Lavender started during this time with my need to grow and nurture a useful crop to share with the community and beyond. Inspiration of new products come from the people who stop by my booth at markets who tell me stories of their life experience with lavender; interacting with fellow makers and being in the field when all I can hear are buzzing bees and birds with the scent of lavender all around me. Lavender life is pretty amazing.
At one point in my career I worked in neurorehabilitation. We often had groups of clients that would work together on an “occupation”. I was the staff member of the gardening group. I learned from the gardening group how therapeutic growing food or flowers can be and how it can bring people together. These folks taught me more than I could ever teach them. To be honest, I don’t have any type of formal training for growing anything. Growing lavender was learned by trial and error, research and connecting with people in the community with far greater knowledge of farming. I am still learning and will forever.

I am a mom of two boys and grandmother (recently) of one granddaughter. My motivation in life is/was for my kids. I was a single mother for most of their lives and I strive to do good in this world. Since their graduation from high school, I have signed up to start my business degree while working full time and running my little farm/ soap company and started the certification process to have my own Reiki practice. This momma needs to stay busy!! I have a wonderful man in my life that supports all that I do and is the man behind the scenes that helps with the production of the soaps, you will actually see him with me at all the events that I do!
My love for goats is indescribable. They are the best therapy and have a way of getting to your heart.
Life is good!!

Wild Rosie is the creation of Maine artist, Nina Devenney, who resides in midcoast Maine and works from a cozy home studio nestled against the woods and just a few miles from the sea. She was raised by two artists, who specialized in ceramics, painting and photography, and whose work and artistic visions were a constant in her childhood home. Above all, being raised by artists taught her to notice, to deeply appreciate, and to find joy in the tiniest of moments and inspiration in simple natural things that surround us in Maine.
Nina has been making art with her own two hands for as long as she can remember. With a background that covers a breadth of media, she has found herself continually inspired by the earth and revels in the endless wonder of Maine’s land and coastline. She received her BFA in Studio Arts in 2010, has taught art to children, to adults and to people with developmental differences, has apprenticed a master metalsmith, and learned various crafts from makers she looks up to and admires. Her art has been a constant in her life, as has been her connection to her community.
Wild Rosie was born out of a sincere love of the natural world and a true desire to bring beauty and genuine joy to the lives of others. Environmental conservation is often at the heart of her work, with a deep love of all the exquisite beauty the earth gives to those that call it home. She is constantly driven by a strong desire to bring our world closer together and to encourage others to look upon the world with a sense of wonder and awe. In seeing the natural riches that we all share and have in common, she hopes to inspire the viewer to take good care of the place we all call home, and connect with one another.
