We handcraft, one at a time, every item from locally grown and milled hardwoods; mostly maple and cherry, also birch, walnut, and ash.
Each piece is unique, and of heirloom quality, with a rubbed finish appropriate to the design.
We make butcher block islands tables,  3-legged milking stools of various heights,
Benches, cutting boards of many sizes and shapes, and rolling pins.

We do custom work as well; tables, butcher block countertops, etc.

Ridge Bird Feeders

ss

We manufacture large capacity bird feeders out of native white cedar.
After experimenting with different species of wood including Western Red Cedar, Eastern White Pine, and Eastern White Cedar, I have chosen White Cedar. It is a soft wood, but holds up to the weather conditions well.

All cedar used for our Wooden Bird Feeders is grown in Maine. The cedar is cut in the Patten area of Maine and trucked to the mill that saws it. This mill is local and I purchased it in the rough as dimensional rough lumber.

I do not use wide boards in building these feeders for two reasons. Wide boards tend to cup and secondly, the mill owner does not tend to have stock that wide because of the availability of large trees.

All 1 5/8 x 1 5/8 stock is re-sawed and planed. All wide components are glued with West System Epoxy and then planed to size. This epoxy preforms well in all outside environments and types of weather.

I use 90% select cedar in our bulk feeders. The screw fasteners are stainless steel as is the piano hinges. The brads are galvanized. The Optix plexiglas is made by Plaskoline and has a thickness of .098 inch. The copper used is a grade called ‘turn brown’ which weathers to a dark brown patina.

All stains, if you wish, are Cabots and all varnish is Epifanes high gloss clear.

The result is the highest quality hand made Wooden Bird Feeders on the market today. I personally hand select each component for every feeder I build so that you can trust each and every feeder is built as well as they look.
