Warmlite

ss

Since 1957, Warmlite is a manufacturer of expedition quality outdoor gear: tents, sleeping bags, vapor barrier, and rain gear. We make the highest quality gear that will go anywhere your adventures take you. We are a cottage industry business, meaning we are family owned and operated. We manually cut all parts following our original designs and patterns using a hot knife. These parts are then sewn by hand by Maine sewers. Once our seamstresses complete their work, the product comes back to our shop for completion.

My inspiration comes from the customers. I love hearing their stories of adventure, bringing their Warmlite gear along like a trusted best friend. Their stories inspire me to make the absolute best quality gear possible, Warmlite gear has saved lives and that’s a huge responsibility that I don’t take lightly. I have been an avid hiker/backpacker myself and understand the value of well-made gear. In the 80’s when I was a young gal and spent my summers working for my uncle, I only wish I paid attention a bit more, lol.

MacKenzie Rose Designs

ss

My name is MacKenzie and I have been making jewelry since 2012! I first began using silver-plated wire to make earrings for friends and family. As I gained more experience in self-taught jewelry-making, I began creating more elaborate designs in sterling silver. I then incorporated leather bracelets into my work and started experimenting with a larger variety of colors and textures, including brass, resin, and polymer clay. I continue to learn new techniques in my jewelry studio in downtown Portland, drawing inspiration from the beautiful state of Maine. With the support of fellow artists, friends, and my family, I have been able to make my dream a reality and share my jewelry with many wonderful people from all over the world. I am grateful for the continued support of my small business and I truly value all of the relationships that have formed since beginning this journey!

Ae Ceramics

ss

I have a BFA in ceramics from RISD. My inspiration is from the sea and nature. Spending time outside absorbing the beauty of the coast and the woods keeps me balanced, creative and inspired. Watching my work get used by family and friends at gatherings and parties really sparks my excitement to keep making.

B&W Apothecary

ss

In 2013, I started creating natural products out of frustration! After fighting cancer twice, I wanted natural products that weren’t going to break the bank. It started as an experiment in the kitchen and after a few months, I produced the first line of products for skincare. After a few years I mastered mixing natural ingredients and expanded to hair, men’s grooming and bath products. I have no formal training in formulation and prefer the older method of learning through ‘tribal knowledge’ or from simply experimenting with a blend of old techniques with new.

Land of the Pointed Firs

ss

My paintings are landscapes and seascapes inspired by my favorite Maine places, somewhat abstracted, and involve multiple layers of my own original hand printed tissue as well as sanding, traditional brush painting, stippling, and cutting. The overlapping patterns and layers represent a celebration of the richly interwoven tapestry of the natural world. In my paintings I also seek to convey the magical element that the Maine landscape holds for so many of us.

I have a background in both science (Animal&Veterinary Science) and art (MFA- University of Wisconsin) and taught art K-college for over 30 years. I have lived in Maine for 44 of those years, and my home is a small garlic farm in Unity. Now I paint full time, along with gardening, walking, and exploring Maine places, soaking up the magic!

Fields Fields Blueberries

ss

Ashley was raised on an organic dairy farm in Western Maine and was very involved in 4-H and agricultural as a youth. Ashley was a 3 season college track athlete at the University of Southern Maine where she graduated with a BA in Psychology while also minoring in Business and Holistic Health. Ashley has always had an entrepreneurial drive and was excited to blend that with her background in Ag when growing Fields Fields Blueberries. Wild blueberries has now become her passion and she cares for and educates people about Maine’s iconic fruit. She draws her inspiration from the rhythms and connections to the land, embracing the seasonality of both farming and business. Ashley lives on their 60 acre hilltop farm in Dresden with her husband Jesse and their 2 children, Stella and Alakai.

Gardens of Asgard

ss

My plant journey began as a child, sitting on a boulder & making “witches brew” with plants, acorns, mud & sticks. Decades later, I am still continuously inspired by nature & the lessons plants have to offer us. After years of studying & apprenticeships, I’m proud to be formulating our herbal remedies in the traditional way of my Norwegian ancestors.

We make our products using the traditional methods that have been used by people for thousands of years. There is no speeding up the process or quick-fixes! We slowly infuse each herb for a full moon cycle to fully extract all the medicinal properties the way nature intended. Everything is made in small batches using fresh, organically grown, seasonal herbs, most of which we grow!

Like most New England Forests, the land we live on has been ravaged for its resources without reciprocity. We plan to restore this land to a healthy, vibrant botanical sanctuary where medicinal herbs grow underneath the canopy of a healthy forest with a thriving wildlife habitat. We plan to build traditional Norwegian Stabbur houses with grass roofs to host workshops & visitors.

Nautical Farms

ss

I’m Morgan, the owner of Nautical Farms. I started Nautical Farms with my partner in life and in business – Jake Patryn in 2017. We both grew up in Maine, but our seaweed story starts thousands of miles from the sea. While living in Colorado, we began exploring the power of seaweed which has brought us back to our roots and led to the start of Nautical Farms.

We had no previous aquaculture training or knowledge but were proactive in following our passion to learn more and get involved in the growing industry in Maine. We now grow over 5 acres of seaweed, serve on the board of the Maine Aquaculture Association, host events educating communities about the benefits of farmed kelp and more! We look forward to sharing with you the experience of seaweed.
