Anita Roelz Metalsmith/Circle Stone Designs

I create work that is steeped in textures and rugged in structure. Using recycled silver & gold and ethically sourced gemstones each piece of jewelry is a form of unique sculpture. I utilize several different techniques to achieve my finished work, fusing, hammering and casting all done by hand in my studio in Woolwich. Elemental in style with pieces that can be worn by anyone, anywhere.

La Cebolla Roja

ss

If you would have told me years ago to eat a red onion, I would have told you “No thank you. Not a fan”. But after a friend brought a jar of pickled red onions over to my home, as a compliment to a cheese dish, I was hooked. I immediately started making them myself and began putting them on EVERYTHING! Soon, the girl who hated onions became known as The Pickled Red Onion Lady. And there, the idea was born to fully embrace the title and convert other onion disliking people to the wonderful flavor of the pickled red onion.

We believe that eating should be an event and food should be exciting. We make our pickled red onions in small batches, with simple ingredients because flavor doesn’t need to be complex.

La Nef Chocolate

ss

La Nef founders Mandy and Dylan Metrano have been visiting and working on Monhegan island for many years. They’ve been living year-round on the island for the last four years. Mandy is the teacher at the one-room schoolhouse and Dylan manages a cafe in the summer. They’re both artists and are heavily involved with the cultural and artistic communities on Monhegan. In late 2017, they conceived of La Nef as a way to create year-round work on Monhegan, while providing exposure to Monhegan artists through their packaging, and delicious treats for everyone who visits. Dylan learned the art of chocolate from Ecole Chocolat in 2018, and he and Mandy have been mentored from a few incredibly generous and helpful chocolate professionals throughout the year. They officially opened La Nef Chocolate in June 2018, and began wholesaling off-island in early 2019.

Wendy Webster Good Fine Art

My artistic visions reflect both my love for the ocean and my time spent in Cape Porpoise, Maine. As a stern woman on a lobster boat, I spent many hours on the open water, extensively observing the raw beauty of Maine’s coast.
I’m a second generation artist and art has always been a way of life for me: during my childhood I painted alongside my mother on a daily basis. After graduating from high school, I studied at the university of southern Maine and the Portland School of Art. I was fortunate enough to study under various local artists, which strengthened my passion for watercolor painting and pencil drawing.
Whether I am painting a beach scene, or a snowy mountain scape, I am always fascinated by how light and color change from one minute to the next. Through my paintings I strive to capture the normally unseen details of the landscape as well as portray my subject to the viewer through a different light.

Colley Hill Soy Candles

ss

There is nothing more gratifying than real compliments from people who enjoy our candles – “After a long day at work, the first thing I do is light my Colley Hill Soy Candle” “Thank you! We have never found candles that burn so long and clean.” “The fragrances are true to their description!” This is why we are so proud to continue crafting our candles.

Stroudwater Studio

As both an artist and an art teacher, I enjoy finding inspiration in the natural world. Tide pools have held my fascination since childhood, when I would spend hours crouching over tiny, magical, intertidal worlds. I enjoy the tactile nature of working with clay, and love creating work with attractive textures that beg to be experienced through the senses of both sight and touch.

Micki Whelan Studio

Born and raised on the coast of Maine, I took my first jewelry making class while still in high school. For twenty-five years, I was the owner and head designer of my own jewelry business in Rhode Island, exhibited in multiple wholesale and retail shows each year, founded The Providence Craft Show (which was acquired by Fine Furnishings Show), taught many classes and served on several craft-related juries and boards. Six years ago, I moved my home and business back to Maine, where I discovered a new passion – painting with encaustics. These days, I divide my time between the jewelry studio and the painting studio. A life-long minimalist, my work reflects a deep respect for artists like Agnes Martin, Mark Rothko, Ellsworth Kelly and the Bauhaus school.

Funky Rock Designs

ss

Funky Rock Designs products are made from natural ocean and river stones. Hours are spent searching for the perfect stones to be transformed. The shapes and textures made by the pounding surf and flowing currents are distinct to each stone.
Gathering stones has long been a favorite family pastime and we hope that some of the joy that we experience will be passed on to our customers.
We love showing off the beauty of nature by creating products which allow you to bring a little bit of that nature indoors in a unique form of functional art.

Beachdashery

ss

Beachdashery is a jewelry line that is inspired by the sand and the sea, founded by Kate Nuki. She started making beach sand jewelry back in 2004, the very first person ever in the USA. Kate created sand jewelry because it was different and unique. As a native Floridian and natural born artist, she came up with a way for people to wear their beach.

Kate creates jewelry using the sand your toes step into. Whether it’s your favorite beach destination or the beach you grew up near, she captures your stories and moments from your happy place. You can pick your beach from her sand collection or send her your own sand to use. Kate has been collecting sand for over 20 years and travels regularly and keeps adding sand to her collection each year.

Kate’s jewelry is very unique. It’s the perfect gift for you or someone else who LOVES the beach and it’s very sentimental. It’s the best way to keep your beach close all year long.
