New England Joinery

11ft. Norway Pine top farm table
Handmade, custom farm tables by New England Joinery.

New England Joinery is a small custom furniture business located in Monmouth, ME. We specialize in handmade, custom Farm Tables built with reclaimed woods salvaged from 18th & 19th century buildings throughout Maine. All of our lumber is hand picked and thoughtfully repurposed into extraordinary table tops and used in other elements in our custom furniture. Combined with select hardwoods such as White Oak, Curly Maple, and Yellow Birch, our furniture is what we call “Refined, Rustic” and suitable for a country cottage or a Manhattan penthouse.
What makes our furniture unique is the time and skill that goes into each piece, the materials we use, and the sense of history in the reclaimed woods chosen.

New for us this year, is the addition of a brand new band saw saw mill. We now have the ability to saw our own lumber for or handcrafted furniture. In a state rich with natural resources such as White Pine, Norway Pine, Ash,  & Yellow Birch, we are now able to control the quality of the woods we use in our custom furniture. Another way we use the saw mill is to re saw reclaimed beams and antique timbers from some of Maine’s barns that are sadly being torn down due to age and neglect. These beams, when sawn into boards are perfect for flooring and our beautiful farm tables.

Mrs Knitter Designs

ss

Moving back to Maine, where they claim its “The way life should be…”, the time seemed right to begin sharing the designs that have been collecting in my notebooks. Over the past few years I have knit lots of garments of my own design for friends and for sale. These designs have been so well received that now my dear husband, Stan is willing to publish them so that others can knit them, too.
Prior to returning to Maine, Stan and I were visiting in Boston and had the opportunity to see Ann Weaver displaying her designs in a local yarn shop. As she arranged her trunk show, she talked to us about how she began to share her patterns and develop her books. Stan left the shop thinking, “we could do the same with Donna’s designs!”
As you check out my website you will find designs inspired by nature, architecture, pottery and even the logos of my favorite coffee house or sports teams. Check out the product pages for clues to each design’s inspiration.
The Mrs Knitter Designs name evolved from my long-standing email address mrsskr@gmail.com. I chose this name because I love being Mrs. Stanley K. Ritchie. Stan has offered to be my business manager, so I can knit, knit, knit! Isn’t he sweet?!
I trust you’ll enjoy what you see here at Mrs Knitter Designs.

MoonCrazy Fibre Arts

ss

We make handmade soaps and felted soaps, handspun and cottage spun yarns, and handknit items made from our own Angora rabbits and sheep or from other Maine fiber producers. Our handmade products start with the animal – we take the shorn wool (or plucked angora fiber) and process, dye and either hand-spin or have it cottage spun locally. We use organic and natural dyes, some of which we sustainably harvest or grow ourselves. Our products are sold at many craft shows throughout the state of Maine, as well as several retail outlets in New England.
