I love soap! In early 2013, I found myself with a little extra time on my hands, so I gave soap making a shot. I fell in love with it. I remember how interested I was in the whole soap making process. I researched, read, researched more, watched tutorials, and talked to soap makers. When I made my first batch I was so excited! It was a bit of a trial because I didn’t have any of the right equipment, but it was a great learning experience. I made a few experimental batches based on my research. When my local friends found out what I was doing, they started asking for samples. When they fell in love with the samples, they started asking for larger quantities! Within a year I had accidentally began my “career” as a soap maker (my husband coined the phrase “soapineer”). Six years later, I’m still making soap. I have a great base of regular customers and love meeting new ones at craft show venues and through my Etsy shop. Aside from my regular, local, and online customers, I have my soap for sale in a few locations across Maine.
