Overview
I received a BFA in Textiles from Rhode Island School of Design. My career in the arts is broad, I have worked as a jeweler, seamstress, costume designer, sewing/drawing teacher, and lighting designer. My love of fabric started as a child. My grandmother made clothes for me and I just loved all looking at all the pieces of fabric in her big scrap box. Today, my soft sculpture art comes from my surroundings. I use remnants from clients, cushions and curtain projects, thrifted items, and bits of fabric and clothing from my family and friends.
Inspiration comes from the many unique colors and textures in nature: trees, plants, animals, and birds, and passion for up-cycling textiles drives me to make something new grow from something old. I’ve always had a great sense of humor, which adds a playfulness and eccentric flare to my creations. Recently I have been getting back to my love for Illustration.
