Member Bio:
Rebecca Emerson and Tammy Smith have always been sisters, grew into friends, and are now adding co-workers and business owners to their relationship with the recent purchase of Tempest in a Teapot. Rebecca lives in Deer Isle with her husband and daughter. Tammy resides in Cushing with her husband.

In January, Rebecca placed her order and told the owner that she had a dream that she was "buying into the company." She had no idea that the company was going through a transition period and the future was unknown. After days of contemplating, she finally made the call that just made sense to her. "I called my sister because I wanted to go into business with someone that I trusted. My sister is also a genius when it comes to marketing and it has always been a family joke when we call her Martha Stewart. She also gives 100% of herself into everything she does. I knew that together we could be a good fit with this company.”

When Tammy received that early morning phone call from Rebecca she started to laugh, which is not unusual for these two sisters. “I had just told my own daughter that I wanted to spend the next few weeks blending different teas in my kitchen.” Tammy laughed. “Once again we were on the same path even though we are fourteen years apart and 100 miles apart. I am a foodie. I love flavors and taste! I love cooking, entertaining my family and friends, and creating a place of relaxation, love, and laughter.” Tammy continues, “I started using tea a few years back for more than just a relaxing drink across the table with friends or a way to gently start my day with a cup of tea after my husband left for work in the morning. I had started to research on line, read books and talked to people about ways to lower inflammation in my own body to maintain better health and started adding fresh ingredients to my morning tea. Working with my sister and being creative in the tea house is a win-win!”
