The Launch of Virginia

June 4

2:00 PM - 5:00 PM

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Join us for a celebration of launch of the reborn Virginia, Maine’s 1st Ship in Bath. The original Virginia was the first English ocean-going ship built in the new world. Construction was begun in 1607 and she was launched in 1608 at Fort St George in what is now Phippsburg Maine. The ship was designed to explore the region then called Sagadahoc in north Virginia, and now called Midcoast Maine.
Maine makers, historic re-enactors, exhibits, music, food trucks, even a Virginia themed ice cream!
The celebration begins at noon with the firing of one of Virginia’s cannons. More information can be found on the Virginia’s website https://mfship.org/the-launch-of-virginia/

For those of you who cannot make it to Bath for the launch, we will be live-streaming the launch ceremony on the Maine’s First Ship YouTube channel: Maine’s First Ship YouTube channel
