Member Profile:
From the barrens of Spruce Mountain Blueberry Farm overlooking Penobscot Bay com a wide range of unique Maine products: North Indian-style wild blueberry and Maine cranberry chutneys made with freshly roasted and ground Garam Masala, reduced-sugar blueberry jam and delicately spiced conserve, whole-berry blueberry toppings and mild-infusion blueberry vinegar. Many items are available in gallons for food service and "Taste of Maine" gift boxes are ready to address and mail. Spruce Mountain's cookbook, East Meets West, is a collection of personal vignettes and family recipes suggesting everyday uses for these unusual products. Member Bio:
Everything at Spruce Mountain is done the old-fashioned way. All of the berries are hand-raked on the hillsides by Molly and her loyal crew. (Molly’s energy and enthusiasm belie her 70+ years.) The fresh berries are winnowed and picked over (and local gossip exchanged) in the shed of Molly’s 1842 farmhouse, which has commanding views of the hills and nearby Atlantic. Then the products are created in small batches in the farmhouse kitchen. Category:
