Member Profile:
Turn off the beaten path, go past the blueberry barrens, and come down into the village of Columbia Falls, pop.580. US Route 1 now bypasses the historic district, preserving one of the best 19th century villages in Maine. Next to the historic Ruggles House museum is a restored country store which is home to the studio and gallery of April V. Adams. Her handmade earthenware pottery and hand painted tiles are thoughtfully presented in room-like displays.
A Maine native, April has been a professional studio potter since graduating from the Maine Collage of Art in 1970. Best known for the lupine pattern, her work includes native and "escaped" wildflowers and nautical delft style tiles. The gallery shows functional wheel thrown pottery for enjoyment in the home as well as one of a kind and limited edition pieces in lady's slipper, blue flag iris, columbine, rugosa rose, bunchberry, blueberry and sunflower designs.

You are invited to visit the gallery when you are in "way down east" coastal Washington County, located approximately 40 miles NE of Ellsworth just 1/2 mile off Route 1. Easy on / easy off - follow the state directional signs. Expert shipping and gift wrapping are available, and all credit cards accepted. Custom tile designs and commissions welcomed. Visit the website and order online.
